And, finance director Ray Pride, told TTJ that more acquisitions could be revealed in the near future.
Shearns is a privately-owned builders merchant with a £1m annual turnover. “It’s a typical small builders merchant,” said Mr Pride, “but there is much scope to add on more timber products.”
Based 20 minutes’ drive from Sydenhams‘ larger Warminster branch, Mr Pride said the latest acquisition would complement the company’s existing Bath customer base.
An independent company, Sydenhams has a long tradition of supplying timber and building materials throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset. Shearns adds another nine members of staff to Sydenhams ever-expanding workforce, which is now around 380.
Sydenhams also has a timber engineering business, while its specialist timber business supplies a range of tropical and temperate hardwoods, as well as a range of softwoods.
“The purchase of Shearns is another dot on the map and demonstrates our willingness to expand the business,” said Mr Pride.
