The Sveza Group has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification for the first of its three plywood mills in Russia.

The Fanplit plywood mill in the Kostroma region was audited by independent body GFA consulting group and the certificate is valid until 2010.

The mill manufactures birch and film-faced birch plywood and chipboard and melamine faced chipboard.

The Sveza Group said it intends to carry on with the project in a bid to achieve certification for its other two mills.
