A Super E timber frame home has won the “House of the Future” prize at the National Homebuilder Design Awards 2004.

The Environ Sunley house, manufactured in Canada and constructed at Kings Hill Park, Kent, scooped the award for its innovative design, sustainability, energy efficiency and improved indoor air quality.

Environ Sunley, a partnership between Sunley and Environ Country Homes, built the UK’s first Super E house and went on to build a further 86 at its Lucana and Kings Hill Park developments.

Jason Kee, business development manager at the Canadian High Commission, said: “The Super E home was the only one to be short-listed in the House of the Future category because of its energy efficiency, design quality and health benefits rather than computer gadgetry and gimmicks.”

The Super E housing programme is run by the Canadian government and teams up UK building companies with Canadian housing exporters.
