The STTA, which sponsored three prizes last year, has agreed to increase the awards to four prizes for the next two years.

Prizes will relate to the design and use of timber and wood products in different aspects of construction, including structural engineering and architectural technology.

“With wood and wood products gaining long-overdue recognition as truly sustainable construction products, it is vitally important that timber engineers and specifiers of the future are given every encouragement to utilise these products and we welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with the university,” said STTA president Andrew Norton.

Prizes will be presented at the Napier graduation ceremony on July 12.
