The inaugural Scottish Timber Trade Association (STTA) members’ conference has been lauded as a success by the organisation’s president, saying feedback has been “extremely positive”.

The event, which took place on September 27 at Stirling University, addressed environmental, certification, technical and procurement issues affecting the Scottish timber industry, with talks and presentations from a number of leading bodies and companies including The Timber Trade Federation and Stewart Milne Timber Systems.

Andrew Newton, STTA president, said the event had allowed the organisation to keep its members abreast of the latest developments in the sector, including sustainable construction, the Wood for Gold initiative and timber’s use in architecture.

“We are committed to keeping our members up-to-date with developments in the industry and the markets they serve,” said Mr Newton.

“This event, the first of its kind for STTA, has certainly achieved this and feedback from members has been extremely positive.”
