A freighter that had to cut loose some of its cargo of timber after sending out a distress signal has resumed its journey from Australia.

The MV Mima Saka, loaded in Melbourne and bound for Singapore, had run into bad weather off New South Wales and listed to 40 degrees. It lost an estimated 600 packs of 2mm veneer although some was later retrieved from the sea.

The ship put into Yamba and continued after divers and welders secured the remaining cargo.
