New figures from the Swedish Forestry Agency reveal that 2005’s Storm Gudrun caused more than SKr18.4bn-worth of damaged to the country’s forestry sector.

The figure was calculated by the agency at the request of the Swedish government, which is looking to apply for financing from the EU solidarity fund.

Storm Gudrun felled more than 75 million m³ and was reported to be one of the worst storms in modern times when it hit southern Sweden.
