Stora Enso is to undertake a €19.8m modernisation programme at its Varkaus sawmill in Finland.
Log handling, the sawing line and kiln drying will be upgraded and a new on-line further processing line with an annual capacity of 100,000m3 will be installed.
The company says the project will improve raw material handling and use, and increase total sawing capacity from 320,000m3 to 345,000m3 a year.
The log handling and sawing line will be modernised this year and the further processing plant will be built by March 2004.
