Stora Enso is selling its head office building in Helsinki to a Germany company for €30m.

The building, designed by architect Alver Aalto and inaugurated in 1961, is being sold to Deka Immobilien GmbH.

Stora Enso then plans to rent the building and later relocate to other premises in the Helsinki metropolitan area that will better meet its future needs.

As a result, the company will record a capital gain of €2m in its second quarter results.

UPM sold its group headquarters building to a German company in 2006 for €77m. It agreed a long term lease for using the building.
