Stora Enso‘s timber sales increased to e320.8m in the second quarter of 2002 thanks to “fairly good demand”.

Operating profits for the division were e14.1m, up from e11.2m in the preceding quarter. Overall sales were e3.23bn and operating profits e241.8m.

However, Stora Enso chief executive Jukka Härmälä said the outlook for the main markets of North America and Europe remain challenging, with the general recovery slow and dependent on an upward trend in the US economy.
