Stora Enso is expanding its window and door component business with a €7.8m investment in new production lines.

The lines will be installed at the Ala Sawmill in Sweden and at Honkalahti Sawmill, Finland. They will make products ready for use by the building and joinery sectors and add variety to Stora Enso’s product range.

“In a nutshell, the new investment is all about creating value and fulfilling customer needs,” said Jörgen Hermansson, product line manager, joinery components.

Stora Enso said the investment, coupled with the start-up of the Uimaharju component mill in early 2008, will strengthen the company’s position as the leading joinery component supplier to the Baltic Sea region joinery industries.

The Ala line will be completed during the third quarter of 2008, while the Honkalahti investment will be finalised by the first half 2009.
