The memorandum of understanding (MoU) will see Stora Enso address key findings of an environmental and social impact assessment of the company’s plantations in Guangxi Province.
The results of the assessment, which found no major environmental or social issues that could jeopardise the plantation projects, were made public at the MoU signing ceremony.
Environmental and social impact assessments are not yet common practice for plantations in China.
