Stewart Milne Construction is to construct 50 low carbon public sector homes in Inverness.

The units will be built using closed panel timber frame construction with the Stewart Milne Timber Systems’ Sigma II build system to meet standards of insulation and airtightness.

The contract is for a mix of one- and two-bedroom flats for the Servite Housing Association and two- and three-bedroom properties for Highland Council. The properties will have a central biomass boiler plant and green growing roofs.

“This is our first project in the north with Servite and we will be working very closely with them and Highland Council to meet the very high standards that need to be achieved, ” said Bill Imlach, managing director of Stewart Milne Construction.
