Stewart Milne Timber Systems (SMTS) operations director David Nimmo scooped the top award at the NHBC Health and Safety Awards in Birmingham last week.
He was named joint winner of the Best Industry Health and Safety Leader Award – the top honour in the special award categories – for his innovative approach to changing processes and encouraging a culture of responsibility in his team.
Mr Nimmo, who has been with SMTS since 1997 and joined the board in 2007, is responsible for planning, manufacturing, timber frame erection and commercial functions, as well as managing health and safety.
STMS managing director Ron Easton said the award was a testament to both Mr Nimmo’s leadership in the industry and the company’s attitude to health and safety.
“Any business is only as good as the people it employs, and David’s knowledge, skill and commitment have made him a real asset to the team,” said Mr Easton.
