The Stewart Milne Group has announced a 10% increase in operational profits and says it aims to open its new £10m timber frame factory at Witney in May.

The Aberdeen-based builder had operational profits of £11m for the six months to December 2001, compared with £10m in the same period of 2000, while turnover jumped from £55m to £59m.

Low interest rates and inflation levels are spurring on the Scottish housing industry, the company says.
