Work has been completed on a large timber frame project in Aylesbury which was originally one of the previous government’s Design for Manufacture £60K home schemes.

Stewart Milne Timber Systems manufactured and erected 94 of its Sigma II closed panel homes for the distinctive S-shaped Serpentine development for Thames Valley Housing Association.

Designed by Make Architects, The Serpentine is a modern interpretation of the traditional Victorian terrace and homes meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

“We are finding unusual shapes and modern designs used increasingly in affordable housing projects,” said Stewart Milne Timber Systems’ group managing director Alex Goodfellow.

“This approach ensures that space is utilised correctly and the maximum number of properties can be built while still allowing for an aesthetically attractive design and plenty of green space.”

German timber frame manufacturer WeberHaus had originally been the timber frame partner on the project.
