Steel window giant Crittall Windows has joined forces with Timbmet to launch a new range of timber and aluminium composite windows to take advantage of the growing demand for wood-based glazing solutions.

The range uses laminated European redwood and solid European oak from the Timbmet Engineered Components (TEC) range and features aluminium facing.

The move into timber is a major step-change for the Essex firm, which has been manufacturing steel windows for over 150 years.

Crittalls’ commercial manager Russell Ager said the new product combined the “warmth and natural beauty that timber lends to interiors with the high performance and minimal maintenance that aluminium brings to exteriors”.

The new range was launched at the Soho Hotel in London on Tuesday.
