New statistics have revealed the changing face of Norway’s forest and timber sectors.
Women ownership of private forest land increased by 7% between 1989 and 2007, according to the Statistics Norway figures.
Land producing timber for sale also increased, with felling occurring on 16,400 properties during 2007, a rise of 1,300 properties in a year. This is coupled with commercial felling taking place on one in seven properties.
However, the number of forest properties handling agriculture as well fell by 700 from 2006 to 2007 to 39,200.
