The Stairways Group has received funding support from Construction Skills and the Welsh Assembly for its 2010 training programme.
Construction Skills will again support the Southam-based company’s training by repaying part of its annual levy in the form of a training grant.
The Welsh Assembly government, keen to support businesses in Wales, will pay an attendance allowance for employees taking part in training programmes at the company’s Welshpool facility.
Training at Welshpool will involve business improvement techniques, provided by Telford College to NVQ Level 2, with additional sessions on quality, health and safety and fork lift truck driving.
Stairways’ group human resources manager Brian Arnold said the poor general economic situation had made sourcing training funding more difficult, with the company having to be more resourceful to find funds.
“The funding will mean that all employees at Welshpool will receive some training that will equip them with new skills,” he said.
“Such skills will be transferable, but hopefully they will be used to further improve productivity and profitability and hence job security.”
