Special Forestry Commission grants for the South West Forest are to be made available for a further three years. Forestry minister Elliot Morley said that the South West Forest had already secured nearly £4m in Forestry Commission grant-aid and has created around 1,600ha of new mixed woodlands. The grants for woodland creation increase the options for local farmers, many of whom have been hit by the foot and mouth outbreak.
