The event, which saw a 6.2% drop in visitors on the second day of the show due to Spain’s game in the World Cup, also recorded a 40% increase in exhibition space to 16,000m2 and a 20% rise in exhibitors to 300.
Show organiser Survey Marketing + Consulting GmbH said a very substantial rise in visitors numbers was noted from the Spanish Mediterranean coast, accounting for 25.5% of total visitor numbers, compared to 22.9% from Madrid.
Survey president Peter Meyer said ZOW Spain met all the prerequisites of becoming a leading trade fair in south-west Europe during the coming years.
The event saw a 55% growth in international visitor numbers, compared to last year, with 38 countries represented in all. Timber trade visitors made up 6.13% of visitor numbers.
A flexible edgebander by Novorex Ibérica was the first machine to be exhibited at a ZOW show.
