The home of a Spanish wine co-operative featuring giant glulam arches has been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2009.

The five parallel arches holding up the roof of Bodegas Protos sit on a stone plinth overlooked by the medieval castle of Peñafiel.

A double-height interior houses fermentation and storage vessels, while a steel and glass spiral staircase presents visitors with sudden views of the castle.

The building was designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners.
