Representatives of wood promotion organisations and industry associations from across Europe gathered in Valencia for the annual meeting of the European Wood Councils.

Participants from 14 nations exchanged experiences and discussed best practices in European wood promotion, with activities in the new EU member countries reported to be developing “very positively”, especially in Poland where a wood promotion foundation has been established.

Spanish woodworking federation Confemadera, which hosted the June 7-8 event, updated delegates on the progress of the Roadmap 2010 “Living with Wood” campaign and invited timber promotion organisations to lend their expertise to activities over the next few months.

A meeting of the CEI-Bois promotion working group also briefed participants on recent communication activities to raise awareness about wood products among EU decision-makers.

A working group was established to organise an exhibition of wood products at the European Parliament next autumn within the framework of the “Wood in Sustainable Development” process

The CEI-Bois working group also adopted a new name, European Wood Network, together with a new logo to better represent the network’s activities.
