SoundBar, an acoustic flooring solution which received its first airing at Housebuilding 2006, was successfully tested and approved for use in residential schemes according to BM TRADA technical assessment TA-001/2006.
SoundBar is made up of the Finnjoist, SoundBar acoustic board and Lafarge Gyvlon screed.
Kevin Riley, Finnforest UK’s head of building solutions, said NHBC approval represented a major step forward for the system.
“Initially, we will be concentrating on the housing market where the density criteria of the current planning regime is producing more apartments, but the system has far wider applications where noise transfer is an issue – student accommodation is just one example here,” said Mr Riley.
Finnforest said it was in discussions with several major developers about using SoundBar.
“Technically the system meets and exceeds Part E and we are hoping it becomes the product of choice in domestic flatted developments,” said Frank Werling, Finnforest UK‘s technical manager.
