Sonae incorporated the annual two-week shutdown into the closure and took the opportunity to complete some upgrade projects, said managing director Tony Hackney.

The factory was now working flat out to meet demand and rebuild stocks.

“We are now taking in wood again and despatching finished goods. Like everyone we have long lead times and the market is pretty stressed at the moment so it is pretty tight,” he said.

“Our priority is to our strategic customers, critical MFC customers and the tongue and groove market.”
