The Benlowe Group, incorporating Bennett Windows and Thomas Lowe Joinery, has reported a good first half despite the wettest winter on record.

Window sales were up 11% to £3.7m and stairs by 8% to £1.24m, in the six months ending in March. The forecast is for more than £10m sales over the next six months.

Operating profit in the first half was almost 40% better than last year due to improved efficiency. Last year was, itself, a record year for the combined operation.

Benlowe’s chief executive Clyve Perkin said new IT being trialled, plus an extension in progress at the Bennett factory in Ratby meant further progress.

The extension will increase the proportion of glazed factory finished timber windows produced by Bennett to 50%.

Mr Perkin commented: ‘We are confident that this year will be successful for us.’
