The Bolton company, which is a leading supplier of windows and doors to the insurance industry, says it is “flat out” repairing and replacing doors and windows across the country.
According to managing director Phil Martindale, some of the best-crafted, highest-quality wooden doors are hanging on hinges in Scotland and London.
“They’re big, mainly Victorian, doors which are, in many cases, twice the size of standard current-day doors, but which also have tremendously intricate or complex mouldings,” said Mr Martindale.
“That many businesses in our sector are losing craftsmen able to repair or create these wooden doors and window frames is a bonus for us in two ways: we’re picking up highly-skilled craftsmen and specialist wood repair and replacement work.”
Much of the work involves repairing the results of break-ins or accidental damage to buildings which are listed or of historical importance.
Current projects include boxed sash windows, complex patterned or moulded doors and windows, including those with stained glass inlays and leaded frames.
