Smee Timber Ltd has updated its environmental policy and copies are available to customers and specifiers.

The privately-owned hardwood importer has a range of drying and manufacturing operations and the policy applies to all companies within the group.

Smee Timber, which received Forest Stewardship Council chain of custody certification in 2000, recognises that the environmental credentials of timber suppliers are becoming increasingly important to architects and specifiers.

Responsibility for the development, endorsement and implementation of environmental policy is taken by the main board and a director has been appointed specifically to oversee the work. An annual report of environmental performance will be made available.
