Colin Simmons has retired from SCM Group (UK) Ltd after 25 years selling woodworking machinery.
He was SCM’s sales manager responsible for selling solid wood machinery including planer moulders, tenoners, CNC window machinery and production lines in the UK and Ireland.
He worked for SCM for 15 years, preceded by 11 years as sales director at Sedgwick Woodworking Machinery. He trained as an electrical apprentice at English Electric, followed by a career at Brook Compton Motors.
Mr Simmons was instrumental in growing SCM’s market share and reputation for quality woodworking machinery, supplying a considerable number of machines to many of the UK’s leading joinery, mouldings and timber processing companies.
In retirement, he will continue with his hobbies of caravanning, martial arts (he is a 5th Dan in karate), completing the renovation of his Sprite car and decorating, as well as spending more time with his family.
