The Wood for Good campaign has taken a lighter-hearted turn with the launch of a contest to find the UK’s best and most creatively employed timber shed.

The ‘show us your shed’ competition invites people to send in photos of their sheds and describe how they use them. The best 25 entries each win a bottle of champagne.

The idea was sparked by research undertaken by TV psychologist Dr David Lewis which concluded that the timber shed is highly conducive to invention and creativity. Among the businesses which started out in sheds, he said, are Disney, Ford, Hewlett Packard and Reader’s Digest.
