Plans to give Shoreham Port a new sense of direction and a new identity have been unveiled.

Port chairman Rod Danes said that at times the port had failed to communicate its success to stakeholders and the local area.

Unveiling a new logo, Mr Danes said the change of focus will place the port at the heart of the local community.

“Shoreham Port has made outstanding progress in the last couple of years. It currently handles around 1.75 million tonnes of cargo annually with turnover last year of £7.5m”, he said.

The port plays a vital part in the economy of the local area, directly employing 85 people with several thousand more dependent upon it for their livelihoods.

The launch of the new identity was attended by Shoreham and East Worthing MP Tim Loughton.

Mr Danes said a significant change in culture was already underway at the port, based on openness and transparency. He added: “We want to make all stakeholders aware of our progress and plans for the future.”
