High Spen-based Rosebirch Ltd, which completes fit-outs for some of the UK’s leading retailers, contacted its long-standing machinery supplier G&J Wood Machinery when its old edgebander was coming to the end of its life. G&J has recently been appointed SCM distributor in north-east England.
An SCM K260 Evo single-sided automatic edgebander was specified for Rosebirch.
Stephen Flynn, managing director of Rosebirch, said the new machine was very fast to set up between the wide range of jobs the company undertakes.
The K260 Evo is a compact machine but fitted with many of the features employed on much larger machines, including the RT-V infeed panel edge-trimming group with two contra-rotating cutterblocks that plane imperfections from panel edges. This is designed to provide a good surface prior to edge gluing with hot-melt adhesive.
Edegbanding application includes melamine, PVC, ABS and strips of laminate and solid wood lippings up to 6mm thickness on panels from 8-60mm thickness at a feed speed of 9m/min.
