A Bangladesh-born American has bought the state-owned Sangu Valley Timber plant from Bangladesh Forest Industries Development corporation for Tk46.50m.
Sheikh Anwar Hossain has bought the plant under the government’s privatisation programme.
Environment and forest minister Tariqul Islam thanked Sheikh Hossain for investing in the development of the plant and asked that employees whose future had become uncertain in the privatisation process should be re-employed.
