Show organiser China International Exhibitions Ltd (CIE) said many exhibitors were “pleasantly surprised” by the number of overseas visitors, which represented 15% of the total attendance.

“We know that many of our exhibitors are no longer looking at the China market alone when they sign up for our show,” said Brendan O Connell Jennings, CIE general manager. “This is also one of the main reasons why a concerted effort has been put in to bring overseas buyers to Shanghai.”

WoodMac focuses on forestry and woodworking machinery and supplies, while timber and wood products for the furniture and building industries are displayed at WoodBuild.

The exhibition will revert to its first quarter timing next year, on March 20-23.
