The Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) plans to promote southern pine in the rebuilding of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

SFPA, whose office in Kenner suffered some structural damage in Hurricane Katrina, described the impending rebuilding effort as an exciting time with “countless opportunities” for southern pine.

The association has fielded dozens of media enquiries regarding the potential impact of Katrina and says it will help its members with relief/building efforts and donations.

The SFPA office is due to reopen on September 26, after evacuated staff have returned to the area.
