The Wimbledon site will create about 50 jobs and follows the opening of the Old Kent Road branch in April as part of the company’s ambitious growth plans.

The store will sell a full range of timber, including a bespoke cutting service, doors and windows, alongside building materials, drainage, roofing, heating, plumbing and electrical products.

"We are delighted to have met the demand for Selco branches with the opening of another new branch," said Selco managing director Chris Cunliffe.

The opening was performed by Bobby Gould, the football manager who famously took Wimbledon to FA victory in 1988.
