Organisers of Sculptree 2002, held in Gloucestershire last month, are hoping to take the amount raised since the event started 10 years ago to more than £100,000.
Sponsored by Tilhill Economic Forestry Ltd, Sculptree is held at the Forestry Commission‘s National Arboretum at Westonbirt.
Ten expert carvers wielded their chainsaws over seven days to create timber works of art which were then auctioned. This year’s auction raised £24,000 but the organisers say more money is still to come.
The proceeds are split between the carvers and the charity Tree Aid which works to reverse environmental degradation and poverty through community forest projects in Africa.
