The development, designed to meet growing demand from the housing sector, comes as the company also hopes to complete a new manufacturing site at Redditch in January (TTJ, December 2014)

New truss beds and a state-of-the-art automated truss system have been installed at the main Thrapston site.

"Pre-fabricated timber trussed rafters are used in in over 90% of all modern housing developments and an ever increasing proportion of commercial buildings," said David Scott, the company’s chairman.

"As a company we are always looking to invest and grow. These new machines will help us to move forward and to improve our efficiency. It’s a very exciting time for Scotts."

The company said the investment had already led to new business opportunities arising every week.
