The Scottish Timber Trade Association‘s PR initiative has been hailed a success, with a number of technical articles published in the trade press.

More than 40 members at the association’s 2001 AGM at Inchyra Grange Hotel, Polmont, heard stories had been placed in publications including Building Control, Clerk of Works Journal and Structural Engineer, and accepted as reference material in others including AJ Focus and New Civil Engineer.

Members agreed the success was indicative of the need for clear, unbiased technical information on timber. The next article, to be published in February, will focus on timber certification.

Outgoing president Bruce Muirhead, who is succeeded by Michael Walker of Walker Timber Ltd, praised the Timber Trade Federation’s Codes of Practice initiative.
