Scottish Woodlands Ltd, which delivers 750,000 tonnes of timber to UK sawmillers annually, has added PEFC forest management certification in order to access markets which require PEFC-certified timber.

“We have received expressions of interest from major UK timber processors about our ability to provide PEFC certified timber,” said Scottish Woodlands’ Rob Shaw. “This is something we have been considering for some time.”

Chain of custody arrangements are currently being finalised to allow the first volumes to move in due course.

The company already had FSC forest management certification.

The Forestry Commission has also just announced dual FSC/PEFC certification of its forests and woodland.
