Scott Group Ltd has acquired packaging business Henry Sutcliffe Ltd in order to enhance the company’s financial future.

The Manchester-based packaging business, which manufactures a range of products including cases made from plywood and timber, has a turnover of £2m a year and will help Scott Group achieve a target turnover of £150m by 2010, according to managing director John Scott.

“There are a lot of synergies with what we do currently and with their loyal customer base they will be an important addition to the group,” said Mr Scott.

The purchase of the Henry Sutcliffe site has made it the 18th facility owned by Scott Group in the UK.

The group recently changed it name from Scott Timber to reflect diversification in its business.
