The UK’s leading timber pallet manufacturer the Scott Group has announced the acquisition of Wolverhampton-based pallet business, Ellis Pallets (W’ton) Ltd.

The single site operation, which specialises in reconditioned pallets, as well as new pallets and timber case manufacturing, gives Scott a stronger presence in the Midlands.

Ellis was sold by owner and founder Peter Ellis who will be retiring later this year along with his brother Robert Ellis and Trevor Griffiths. As a team they have built up the business over the past 40 years.

“Strategically, this is a key development for Scott Pallets, and demonstrates our commitment to serving local industry across the UK,” said Alan Gibson, managing director of Scott Pallets.

“Whilst we have an unrivalled geographical spread throughout England, Scotland and Wales, we now have a strong foothold in the Birmingham area to ensure we are providing the best possible service to our customers in the Midlands.”

All 10 staff at Ellis Pallets are being retained.

The Scott Group, which employs more than 1,000 people, also recently launched a new website at www.scottgroupltd.com.
