Millennium cuttings taken from Scotland’s 3,000-year-old plus Fortingall Yew have been planted to launch an internet-based project designed to celebrate the country’s rich legacy of ‘heritage’ trees.

Scottish forestry minister Allan Wilson planted the cuttings at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, with help from two-year-old Eilidh Strachan, daughter of forester Mike Strachan who took the cuttings.

Heritage Trees of Scotland presents many of Scotland’s most remarkable trees on the internet and invites the public to nominate others. Visit www.tree festscotland2002.org.uk
