Expansion at the Alec Reed Academy in Ealing comprises the two-storey Quad and the Arc, a long sweeping curved building, which together required 1,200m3 of CLT. Supplier KLH said using CLT removed more than 900 tonnes of CO2, even allowing for transport from Europe.

The buildings were erected in seven weeks and will be fitted out in time for the autumn term.

"Choosing CLT has made a significant contribution to the speed and efficiency of the operation and reduced waste on site," said project leader Rob Brown.
