An appraisal scheme for measuring the sustainability of proposed building developments has been launched.

The Comprehensive Project Appraisal is the result of a four-year study by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Environment Agency.

It gives planners and project managers a system for measuring all factors in proposed developments including social/ environmental impact, ‘liveability’, design, energy efficiency, infrastructure and bottom-line economics. It is intended to aid sustainability and speed up the development process.
