Leading scaffolding company Allied Scaffolding has decided to phase out traditional solid wood scaffold boards in favour of Finnforest’s engineered wood boards.

Allied, which has four sites across northern England, first used Finnforest’s Masterplank LVL scaffold boards in 2005 and said the same boards were still in use today.

“Our decision to trial the boards over such a long period has been totally vindicated,” said Allied’s managing director James Brierley.

Mr Brierley said the LVL boards were an investment in improved durability and employees’ long-term safety. Allied’s customers include Balfour Beatty, Wates and Wilmott Dixon.

Finnforest UK industrial sales manager Eddy Nichol said the LVL product could help distributors avoid supply volatility and pricing issues encountered in the traditional solid wood scaffold board market.
