Standard grade sawn timber production will be curtailed at SCA Timber for two weeks around the turn of the year.

SCA said production of value-added wood products, components and finished products would continue as planned.

It said sawn timber output in Northern Europe had increased more than demand during the latter part of 2010. The curtailment around Christmas and New Year is designed to avoid a build-up of stocks.

“Our production of, for example, window components, IKEA shelving and value-added products for the builders merchant sector will continue as planned,” said SCA Timber president Jonas Mårtensson.

“These are products and markets with a stable demand, unaffected by short-term fluctuations in the wood products market.”
