SCA Timber is investing more than £4m in new plant and equipment for three sawmills in Sweden.

Tunadal sawmill, which SCA is developing to compete on a pan-European level, will have a new cutting line for manufacturing precision components.

The Bollsta mill will receive four new chamber kilns and Vilhelmina will have a further changer kiln.

A spokesperson said it was part of the company’s commitment to add value. SCA’s eight mills reached record production levels in 2006 for the third consecutive year with added value products accounting for 20-60% of each mill’s output.
