SCA Timber Supply has signed a “substantial” deal with Magnet Joinery for the supply of specialised window components.

Scunthorpe-based SCA will provide customer-specific greensplit window blanks to Magnet’s Keighley factory.

Components are being produced at SCA’s Munksund sawmill near the Arctic Circle, while supply chain management will be handled by the company’s nationwide distribution headquarters at Stoke-on-Trent.

The deal follows work between SCA and Magnet to assess future market demands and manufacturing requirements in the window sector.

Magnet spokesperson Val Hughes said sourcing greensplit timber would reduce waste in the company’s window factory and responds to “continual pressure” from customers such as major housebuilders and housing associations for improved quality products.

Earlier this year, Magnet became the largest window manufacturer supplying both the public and trade to achieve Forest Stewardship Council chain of custody certification.
