SCA is investing SKr49m in X-ray scanning equipment for its Bollsta sawmill.

Bollsta mill manager Jonas Mårtensson said X-ray scanning of sawlogs for timber grading would enable the company to select raw material with the exact properties required for a certain end-product.

Mr Mårtensson said the better raw material use would enable the mill to increase its capacity.

In addition to X-ray equipment, the investment will include a new sawlog table and measurement equipment. Procurement will be carried out this spring, with the equipment expected to be in operation by 2009.

Bollsta currently produces about 400,000m³ of pine annually.
